Slicing knives are used for making clean slices of raw and cooked meats or fruits and vegetables. With the long thin blade, you can make beautifully smooth slices with one stroke.
How do you use a slicer knife?
To properly use a slicing knife, place the food securely on a cutting board that is at least twice the size of the item you are slicing. Secure the food item either with your fingertips, tongs, or a carving fork. Properly grip the knife and move the blade horizontally with a slight downward force, adjusting the force based on what you are slicing.
What is the difference between slicing and carving knives?
A slicing and carving knife is the same type of knife, featuring a long thin blade with either a pointed or rounded tip. The edge of the knife can feature hollows that keep the slices of food from sticking to the blade.
What is the difference between a slicing knife and a utility knife?
A utility knife is intermediate in size between a paring knife and a chef knife. A slicing knife has a longer and thinner blade compared to a chef knife and, therefore, is also longer than a utility knife.
