Is there a difference between a muffin pan and a cupcake pan?
A muffin pan (or muffin tin) and a cupcake pan are the same - a pan made of metal or silicone with molded cups.
What is the best material for a muffin pan?
Aluminum or silicone are the best materials for muffin pans and are preferred by professional bakers. Both materials offer fast, even heating (and cooling), easy release of baked goods, and quick clean-up.
Do I need to grease muffin tins?
It depends on what you are making or baking in the muffin tins. Silicone muffin pans have a natural nonstick finish and because they are flexible, it is easier to get the finished product out of the cup. Aluminum natural finish muffin pans should be greased or use paper liners to ensure proper release of muffins or cupcakes.
What are the different sizes of muffin pans?
The size of a muffin pan can be determined in three possible ways.
1. The capacity of a cup or how much batter the cup can hold, typically either standard or mini but also large and jumbo as well as muffin top only pans.
2. The number of cups in the pan, typically 6, 12, or 24.
3. The frame measurements of the pan, meaning the outside measurement of the muffin pan.
